Arsenal transfer blow: Player set for medical today after Bayern exit deal agreed

Arsenal suffered a blow in the transfer race to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move to sign the 29-year-old winger. It was thought that the Sane preferred a move to London to stay close to his family.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, Sane has decided to join Turkish club Galatasaray, and a deal has been agreed.

Earlier this month, Christian Falk informed CFBayern Insider that Arsenal had held talks with Sane’s agent, Pini Zahavi, regarding a potential move, and they had “concrete” interest in him.

Sane rejected a contract extension offer from Bayern, although the German champions were willing to offer him a lucrative pay package.

Last week, Bild reported that Bayern want to take Sane to the Club World Cup, and they could reach a mini-contract agreement with him.

Falk informed CFBayern that Sane made it clear to Bayern that he doesn’t want to sign an extension, and wants to secure a transfer to Galatasaray immediately to avoid flying to the USA to participate in the Club World Cup.

Sky Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, has reported that Sane has agreed a deal with Gala that will keep him at the Turkish club until 2028.

The former Manchester City winger will undergo his medical on Thursday, and fans celebrated his arrival.

The news will come as a blow to Arsenal, although Mikel Arteta must have other targets lined up for the summer window.

Bayern Munich should look to sign at least two wingers

The Bavarian club attempted to convince Sane to sign an extension, but it appears that he wants to move elsewhere after enjoying a successful spell in Germany since joining from Manchester City.

Bayern need to add quality and depth in their attacking ranks, and they may need more than one winger.

Not only do they need to replace Sane, but the club should also find a replacement for Kingsley Coman, whose future looks set to be away from the Allianz Arena.
