"Edgecombe is said to have impressed with his work ethic, personality, and interviews," Fischer reported on Substack. "He went to dinner with Daryl Morey and other Sixers higher-ups. Even Tyrese Maxey, sources say, flew in for the occasion.
The Sixers are reportedly intrigued by Edgecombe's potential as a defensive complement to their All-Star guard, as well as his explosive offensive upside.
The 19-year-old had a well-rounded freshman season at Baylor, averaging 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.1 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.
He also made an impression on the international stage last summer, representing the Bahamas at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Valencia, Spain.
Playing alongside NBA veterans Deandre Ayton, Buddy Hield, and Eric Gordon, Edgecombe stood out as one of the team's leaders, averaging 16.5 points on efficient shooting splits (57.1% FG, 38.5% 3PT, 81.3% FT), along with 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
