Chelsea are being linked with a move for another Manchester United outcast.

Chelsea are being tipped to repeat their Jadon Sancho move by signing another disgruntled Manchester United star this summer. The Blues signed Sancho on loan last season with the winger having fallen out with many at Old Trafford.

Sancho performed better than expected on the whole, but the Blues couldn’t come to an agreement over his wages and they ultimately passed up the opportunity to sign him permanently for £25million, sending Sancho back to Manchester United.

But according to a report from SPORT, Chelsea may not be done signing United players who no longer fit in at the club, with Marcus Rashford said to be an option for Enzo Maresca, with the England forward also said to be attracting attention from Arsenal and Barcelona.

Chelsea need a new winger this summer, and it’s no secret that United want to move on Rashford after sending him on loan to Aston Villa in the second half of last season. Reports have claimed that United are asking for £40million to sell Rashford this summer, and it’s likely the final fee will be less than that.

United don’t have great leverage in the situation given they want to get rid of Rashford and the player likely wants to leave. Rashford told Henry Winter when joining Villa: “If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.

"When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. Next week, next game, new life and they are fighting for the places. For me what is important is the performance in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with team-mates and push team-mates."

Rashford said on being left out of the Manchester derby, an incident that left him seeking a move: “It's disheartening to be left out of a derby, but it's happened, we won the game so let's move on. It's disappointing, but I'm also someone as I've got older, I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it? Or do my best the next time I'm available."

Neville on Rashford move

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville said when Rashford left United in late January: “I feel a number of emotions... a tinge of sadness. Thinking of Marcus Rashford as an eight, nine-year-old United academy player, given a big contract a couple of years ago, scoring 30 goals a couple of years ago and being on top of his game, on and off the pitch, but the deterioration in the last couple of years has been alarming.

“It is an absolute must that he has to get out of Manchester United and Old Trafford, and I feel sad saying that even a few weeks ago, let alone a few months ago. I thought when Ruben Amorim came in, we would see a clean slate - it has got 10 times worse under Amorim than it was under Ten Hag in the sense that some of the things that have been said by his manager have been absolutely brutal.

“He's only been with him five or six weeks and they are a stain on his character. So he needs to get out, get the freedom away from Old Trafford and spend time at another club. In terms of his move, he is going to a team that is far better than Manchester United at this moment in time. They're in the Champions League, in the FA Cup, they are in with a shout of getting into the Champions League again.”
