Jadon Sancho
Villa target? Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho
Aston Villa are one of three Premier League rivals who could offer Jadon Sancho a way out of Manchester United this summer, with it appearing likely that he has no future under Ruben Amorim.
Winger Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, having previously been loaned back to former club Borussia Dortmund, who he helped reached the Champions League final at Wembley. His last league appearances for United was in August 2023.
Although it wasn't Amorim who sanctioned his loan to Chelsea - they had the option to buy him permanently this summer or pay United a £5m penalty fee to send him back, something they've ultimately had to do - it's not expected that the Portuguese will be integrating him back into his squad. It's a similar story for former Villa loanee Marcus Rashford.
Sancho, who cost United £73m in the summer of 2021 after four excellent years in Dortmund, scored five goals and produced 10 assists for Chelsea last year as they qualified for the Champions League at Villa's expense and lifted the Europa Conference League trophy.
The 25-year-old's future is currently uncertain, although reports are emerging that he'll have the option to remain in England and in the Premier League. Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all on the look-out for wing reinforcements and could land Sancho on the cheap as Amorim continues an overhaul of his squad.
Sancho, Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are all expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after the arrival of Matheus Cunha and a potential deal, which hasn't yet been struck, for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
Villa, in the first instance, could have to sell before the end of June to ensure they comply with PSR; the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Philippe Coutinho, Alex Moreno and Emiliano Buendia, who have all been - or still are - out on loan, are expected to leave with Unai Emery in need of slimming down his bulky squad.
