Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal transfer update as talks held amid clear Benjamin Sesko plan

Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Viktor Gyokeres' representatives over a potential move this summer, but the club also continue to work on a deal for Benjamin Sesko.

Both strikers have been heavily linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window as the Gunners prioritise signing a centre-forward before the start of the new season.

Having carefully scouted and analysed both players for over a year, football.london understands that Arsenal are pressing ahead with trying to sign Sesko. Talks are said to have taken place with both the player and RB Leipzig over a potential deal - with the player also having a variable release clause in the contract he signed last summer.

Latest reports, however, suggest that Arsenal have maintained an interest in Gyokeres and remain in talks over a possible deal. GIVEMESPORT indicate that talks were held with Gyokeres' camp on Wednesday.

Journalist Graeme Bailey suggests that, while there has been discussions with Gyokeres, there have been no talks with Sporting over a possible move. It's added that talks over a swoop for Sesko are further forward with the club having made contact with Leipzig over a possible big-money transfer.

Reports last week suggested that Gyokeres was keen on a move to the Premier League. Arsenal face competition from Manchester United, with head coach Ruben Amorim keen on a reunion with his former striker.

Any move will see him return to England. He spent five years with English clubs between 2018 and 2023.

The striker played for Brighton, Swansea City (loan) and Coventry City, before completing a move to Sporting in the summer of 2023. The 2024/25 season saw him score a whopping 54 goals in 52 games, in all competitions for the Portuguese club.
