Florian Wirtz has been the talk of the town since the transfer window opened, with Liverpool now trying to finalise the amount they want to pay for the Bayer Leverkusen ace.
The German has made it clear that Liverpool were the only team he wanted to advance his career with, away from Leverkusen.
The Reds have managed to fend off the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich for the transfer of Wirtz, with Arne Slot looking to build upon their successes from the 2024-25 campaign.

And, even though it’s felt like things have dragged on a bit over the last few weeks, nothing in the latest reports has hinted at any sort of worry for the Reds, which, with Liverpool’s luck, is quite a surprise.
Florian Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool is now ‘imminent’
As mentioned, the saga has dragged out for a couple of weeks with Liverpool missing out on the first transfer deadline ahead of the Club World Cup.
However, while speaking to Sports Mole, journalist David Lynch gave an insight into the current negotiations between Liverpool and Leverkusen and shared when the transfer could be completed.
“I think they’ve all got an outline idea of what that third bid is going to look like,” he said.
“I mean that could come in the next few hours, the next few days, we don’t really know the kind of time scale around that, but it feels imminent.

“I would be very, very surprised if, when that bid goes in, it isn’t accepted by Leverkusen because it is very, very close to what they were putting the asking price at.
“There’s still confidence on all sides that the deal will get done, there’s no kind of time pressure on Liverpool because they’re not in the Club World Cup, so that’s absolutely fine.
“They could do his medical this week, and then the deal will eventually be ratified when the second window opens, it’s not a problem really.”
Which other players Liverpool are targeting this summer
Even though the transfer of Wirtz has been the main headline dominating Liverpool’s market thus far, there also seems to be some other moves in the works.
Players such as Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres have been linked with Anfield switches, as well as others such as Milos Kerkez.
With these moves in mind, it’s clear what sort of players and positions Liverpool are targeting this summer in order to keep up with their title rivals.

Whatever changes occur at Anfield this summer, there’s no doubt that Slot will want to compete for every trophy possible.
This means that plenty of money will need to be spent to ensure that the Anfield outfit have the same quality of player on the bench as in their first team.
Of course, most of these transfer links are just rumours for now, but with the number of players Liverpool seem to want to sell, plenty of changes are set to occur.
