Newcastle United are, reportedly, willing to offer Jadon Sancho a Premier League lifeline this summer after his proposed permanent transfer to Chelsea fell through.

Sancho's time at Manchester United has been on thin ice for a while after he had a public spat with Erik ten Hag, after the Dutchman dropped him from the squad for a match with Arsenal in September 2023. This prompted the winger to declare himself a 'scapegoat'.

He was banished from the first-team soon afterwards and, in January 2024, he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund. Upon his return to Manchester, Sancho apparently resolved matters with Ten Hag, but this did not stop him being loaned to Chelsea for the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign.

Chelsea had agreed an obligation to buy Sancho for £25m but, following an underwhelming stint at Stamford Bridge, the forward failed to reach personal terms with the London club. He has since returned to Old Trafford, where he awaits his next move.

According to The Mirror, that next move could be Newcastle. Alongside Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, the Magpies are credited with an interest in Sancho as they look to bolster their attack for the upcoming Champions League campaign.

While predominantly a left-sided winger, Sancho has played on the right at times for Chelsea this season which is an area of the pitch that is particularly low on options for manager Eddie Howe. There might, of course, be question marks surrounding a decision to move for Sancho this summer considering his struggles in England.

Sancho managed just five goals and 10 assists for Chelsea this season with two goals and five assists coming in the Conference League against considerably weaker opposition. Our colleagues at The Manchester Evening News understand that Sancho is unlikely to be welcomed back into the fold at Old Trafford next season despite Ruben Amorim now being at the helm.
