Report: Everton now making advances to sign Championship teenager, belief he’ll go ‘right to…

Everton’s new ownership are looking to make statement additions this summer transfer window, but they’re also planning for the future too.

The Toffees are interested in Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and teammates John Stones and James McAtee have also been linked.

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade is on David Moyes’ radar, too, but the club are also exploring moves to sign young talent.

Sheffield Wednesday’s 15-year-old striker Celan-Kole Cadamarteri was subjected to a £1.5m bid from Everton earlier this month.

Now, it’s just emerged that they’re making advances for a 16-year-old Championship star.

Everton exploring move to sign Charlton teenager Reuben Gokah

The Friedkins want to change Everton’s recruitment strategy this summer, with the emphasis on driving down the squad’s average age.

With that said, according to Alan Nixon, the Toffees are exploring a move to sign Charlton’s teenage centre-back Reuben Gokah.

Gokah is yet to make his senior debut for the newly-promoted Championship outfit, but he has impressed with England under-16s and 15s.

Nixon claims that Everton view the 16-year-old as someone who could go ‘right to the top’, so they’re making advances to snap him up.

Gokah expected to go into under-21s set-up

If the Toffees do land Gokah’s signature, he likely won’t be joining as a first-team player initially, with the under-18s and 21s his immediate focus.

A source close to Everton labelled the academy a disgrace back in March, with it being much less of a focus than it used to be.

During Moyes’ first tenure on Merseyside, the club employed around 300 scouts at grassroots level, but that number was just 40 a couple of months ago.

The new ownership are now pumping substantial cash into the academy, and that’s reflected by the potential deals of Gokah and Cadamarteri.
