Manchester United – and Ruben Amorim, in particular – are keen to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. OGC Nice’s Marcin Bulka is reportedly on their radar, but why they will have to wait until January 2026, or the summer of that year has been revealed.
In truth, there are a lot of positions that need upgrading or reinforcing over the summer months, given how hodgepodge last season was for the Portuguese tactician, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November 2024 and finished 15th in the Premier League.
Matheus Cunha has arrived to add firepower; Bryan Mbeumo has green-lit a move to Old Trafford and Viktor Gyokeres is a name on their centre forward shopping list, but Andre Onana’s poor form also means that a new shot-stopper is on their radar.
Bulka, as mentioned, has been identified as a potential replacement for the Cameroon international and GIVEMESPORT sources have claimed that Amorim – one of the best young managers in world football – has opened discussions over a move.

UEFA Rule Prevents Bulka’s Summer Move To Old Trafford
Poland international could delay Man Utd transfer until 2026
The 25-year-old, who joined Nice from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent basis in 2022, has made it clear he wants a change of scenery in the coming months, leaving the door ajar for the 20-time English champions. Last season, he kept eight clean sheets in Ligue 1.
However, the report also revealed that the Pole, whose contract with the French side expires in the summer of 2026, would likely move to Old Trafford, one of the greatest stadiums in Premier League history, sometime next year – but why’s that the case?
That’s because no deal between Amorim’s Manchester United and Frank Haise’s Nice side are unable to do business until September 2025 due a rule that UEFA have put in place to prevent the aforementioned clubs benefitting from multi-club ownership.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a 72-year-old billionaire, became a co-owner of the Red Devils in February of last year; but his pharmaceutical company, INEOS, are also owners of the French club.
And rules introduced by the First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) last summer targeted the multi-club model – and there were, once, fears that both clubs would not be able to compete in the 2024/25 Europa League campaign.

Although both were able to participate in the competition, a UEFA statement said that the two clubs had agreed not to transfer players, whether than be permanently or on a loan basis, to one another between the period of July 2024 and September 2025.
“Furthermore, as additional evidence of their independence, the concerned clubs committed to the following: the clubs will not transfer players to each other, whether permanently or on loan, directly or indirectly, from July 2024 until September 2025, with the exception of pre-existing transfer agreements that had been entered into before the opening of the CFCB proceedings.”
Onana, who joined the Red Devils to replace David de Gea back in 2023, has been a largely unreliable figure inbetween the sticks – and, in 2024/25 alone, he conceded a grand total of 65 goals in all competitions. Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez has also been eyed.
