Supporters greet the team before last game at Goodison Park Stadium, the Premier League match between Everton FC and Southampton at Goodison Park on May 18, 2025
A nun playing on the Goodison Park pitch, in full habit, an Alsatian dog saving a shot down at the Gwladys Street End - wearing an Everton kit obviously - and 1970s big money-signing Joe Harper nodding one past his wife, in a checked jacket and polo-neck sweater ...Parklife doesn't just chronicle the regular Goodison Park action of the past 133 years.
There are many unexpected rarities to be found in the club's official pictorial celebration of the Grand Old Lady.
A stunning, limited edition coffee table book, Parklife celebrates the history of Goodison Park in more than 200 powerful and rarely-seen pictures.
Everton staff spent several years scouring newspaper photographic archives - physical and digital - for the shots which told the Goodison story, many of which hadn't been seen for more than a century.
David Prentice and Darren Griffiths travelled down to Watford where the physical archives for now defunct newspapers like the Daily Sketch and Daily Herald are stored, in addition to current titles like the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express and the Liverpool Echo.
They visited the London offices of the Press Association and also utilised Everton's own photographic archive.
The oldest action shot in Parklife shows Sammy Chedgzoy, in action at a very recognisable Goodison Park in the 1920s, while a 1926 shot of the Bullens Road Stand under construction may well feature a teenage Dixie Dean in the foreground.
The changing face of Everton down the years is chronicled in pictures and a remarkable aerial shot taken in 1967 shows the queue for tickets for the FA Cup tie with Liverpool almost snaking back to Anfield!
European nights include several shots from the night Goodison staged the city's first European Cup tie against Inter. Also featured are the visits of Borussia Moenchengladbach, AC Milan in 1975 - plus rare images of the night Ujpest Dosza visited in 1965 complete with iconic kit, Nuremburg later the same year and a friendly match from 1958 when Dutch visitors Fortuna FC were beaten 6-1.
The final chapter focuses on the last men's match ever staged at Goodison - from the action on the pitch to behind the scenes.
In keeping with such a prestigious publication, the UK's leading watch brand and Everton's official chronograph partners, Christopher Ward, proudly supported the Parklife project.
Christopher Ward CEO and lifelong Evertonian Mike France sat down with Everton's David Prentice to select many of the images which feature.
"In Parklife Everton have curated something that will evoke memories for millions of people," said Mike "whether they have been seasoned season-ticket holders for decades, or have only recently tasted Goodison’s unique atmosphere.
"For me, seeing a photo of my dad’s favourite player, Dave Hickson, brought back memories of my first game, a 3-1 defeat of Blackpool in 1960.
"Other photographs brought back the golden, under-rated, Harry Catterick era. I was in the Park End in April 1970 when we clinched the title against West Brom and I can still see Colin Harvey’s curled shot beating John Osborne’s outstretched hand which, unusually, had two fingers strapped together!"
Beautifully presented and housed in a protective slipcase, PARKLIFE is strictly limited in number and priced at £78 (+£8 UK P&P via 48-hour tracked delivery). This exclusivity ensures that each copy is a true collector’s item.
