Despite national reports, Knicks insiders say New York has no interest in trading for Kevin Durant in the offseason.
Kevin Durant is expected to be traded by the Phoenix Suns in the coming weeks—but not to the New York Knicks. While ESPN's Shams Charania listed the Knicks among five teams interested in Durant, local sources have denied any real pursuit.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post and Steve Popper of Newsday, the Knicks are not targeting KD in trade discussions.
Meanwhile, the Suns and Durant's business partner, Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman, have reportedly held multiple meetings over the past week to explore possible trade scenarios.
Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reports that Durant's preferred destination is the San Antonio Spurs. However, the Suns are expected to prioritize the offer that brings them the best return, regardless of Durant's preference.
KD, who turns 37 in September, is coming off a season where he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He has one year left on his contract and is set to earn $54.7 million in the 2025–26 season.

As for the Knicks, they're currently navigating a difficult head coaching search. Several teams have denied them permission to interview coaches like Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Chris Finch, Billy Donovan, and Quin Snyder.
With Durant likely off the table, New York may focus on a blockbuster trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
A recent Bleacher Report feature even floated a 12-piece hypothetical deal that could bring Giannis to Madison Square Garden.
