Man Utd new kit release, unveiling the Theatre of Dreams tribute and why it is special

Manchester United have released a new home kit ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The annual release of Manchester United’s home kit took place this morning.

United revealed their Adidas home kit for the 2025/26 season, a clean design that the team will don for the first time in pre-season.

The kit, predominantly red, stands out with its white logos and black accents.

It’s bound to be a top seller like previous United home shirts, but it is also the first of three kits that the club will release this summer, making it costly for fans who like to keep their wardrobe updated with the latest football shirts.

While there are similarities to the home shirt from the 2024/25 season, there is one throwback feature from the latest release that makes it different and somewhat special.

Ineos may be planning for a future away from Old Trafford with a new stadium on the horizon for United fans, but the club paid tribute to their iconic stadium with the latest kit release.

The kit includes an Old Trafford-inspired sleeve graphic, marking the first time in years that United have featured sleeve prints on their home shirts.

Furthermore, the words ‘Theatre of Dreams’ are printed on the collar. This, of course, is special because the same phrase featured on the collar of the 1996/98 shirt.

United were winning and competing for league titles in the late 90s before Sir Alex Ferguson won the Champions League for the first time in 1999.

It would be great if the new home shirt could be remembered for being worn during a successful season.

Juergen Rank, Senior Design Director at Adidas said: “The colour red is fundamental to the club’s DNA.

“There have been many different expressions of it over the years and for this season we wanted to do something a little different, using the sleeves as a canvas.

“The abstract graphic stays true to the club’s DNA while providing an innovative look at feel to an otherwise classy and classic jersey.”

Adidas deal with Manchester United

United’s partnership with Adidas is one of the most lucrative kit deals in football.

The 10-year agreement, worth £900 million, includes clauses that mean United must improve on the pitch and get back into the Champions League.

United’s failure to win the Europa League means they have to pay Adidas £10 million because it means they’ll now go two years without Champions League football, therefore, breaching the agreement.

The Tezos sponsorship for the club’s training kits will end this summer, and there has been no announcement regarding a replacement.
