Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande this summer, according to a report by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
The 21-year-old Ivorian defender has become one of Sporting’s best players this season, making 46 appearances last season, scoring two goals and contributing one assist.
Diomande helped Sporting win the league title this season despite losing their manager Ruben Amorim early in the year.

Ruben Amorim, who signed Diomande for Sporting, has praised the young defender, describing him as “very physically strong” and “fast.” Amorim also noted that Diomande plays with both feet and is talented, with many clubs having shown interest in him.
The Gunners are looking to bolster their squad this summer, with a priority on signing a striker, central midfielder, and winger.
However, Mikel Arteta may also be tempted to bring in defensive reinforcements, given the lack of depth behind William Saliba and Gabriel at centre-back.

Arsenal face competition from Chelsea, who are also keen on signing Diomande as a potential alternative target to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Crystal Palace themselves are reportedly interested in Diomande, potentially anticipating a sale of Guehi this summer. Additionally, Manchester United are said to be interested in Diomande, with Ruben Amorim keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.
Diomande’s impressive performances for Sporting have caught the attention of several top clubs, and it remains to be seen which team will secure his signature this summer. With his speed, physical strength, and ability to play with both feet, Diomande could be a valuable addition to any team.
The Gunners are already favourites to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP and may hope to further the Portuguese side of another top player this summer.
