There has already been a lot of talk over the future of Marcus Rashford this summer with the forward looking set to move away from Manchester United before the end of the transfer window.

Rashford fell down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim, and spent the second half of the season just gone on loan with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa. He impressed with his performances at Villa Park, but missed the last few games of the season due to injury.

Villa do have a £40 million option to buy the player this summer, but don’t have first refusal, meaning other clubs could make their moves. Barcelona have been linked with an interest, with Rashford said to be keen on a move to the Spanish giants.

The Manchester Evening News understands that there is little chance of Rashford being reintergated into the United first team squad during pre-season. But it seems he is nowfit for any move away from the club that could come about.

The forward has given an update on his Instagram page, showing him playing padel ball, along with a caption reading: “padel time” with a smiling face emoji. But that message has prompted some playful teasing from both current and former United teammates.

Goalkeeper David de Gea, who will return to United in the pre-season friendly with Fiorentina, took to the comments section to write: “You’ve never picked up a racket in your life bro,” with two crying laughing emojis.

United captain Bruno Fernandes also involved midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in the comments section of the post. He asked: “@kobbie you think he can beat us?”

Fernandes was himself linked with a move away from United this summer. But the midfielder turned down the chance to make a big money move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Rashford’s future should become clearer over the next couple of months. The summer transfer window officially reopens again on Monday, June 16, with it then remaining open until 7pm on September 1.
