Manchester United are considering a surprise summer move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed.
The Red Devils are eyeing changes to Ruben Amorim’s midfield this offseason and have reportedly identified the Nigeria international as a low-cost option on the market.
Ndidi is available for just a £9m release clause following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League and could emerge as a viable option for United later in the transfer window.
The experienced 28-year-old is also being courted by Everton and Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli. While Man United are aware of his availability, they currently have other targets ahead of Ndidi.

Jacobs, speaking on The United Stand, revealed that Ndidi is not necessarily a priority target for United at present, but his £9m release clause is appealing to the Red Devils:
“I think Wilfred Ndidi is another name that I'm hearing, newer that I can add to the radar that Manchester United are considering. Everton have Ndidi on their radar, and Al-Ahli are interested as well.
“The thing about Ndidi, I think, is he won't necessarily be the go-to-now advanced choice for a club like Manchester United. It's more, there is huge value in the £9 million relegation release clause since Leicester went down, and Manchester United are aware of that.
“So I don't think they're moving at this point, because if they strengthen in midfield, which will come later in the window, there are other targets very much ahead of Ndidi.
“But Manchester United are well aware that £9 million number is low value and good value for a player with a lot of Premier League experience who could maybe become a squad player. So it might be one to keep an eye on.”
Ndidi, who joined Leicester from Belgian side Genk in 2017, would bring considerable Premier League experience to Old Trafford, having amassed 220 top-flight appearances for the Foxes.
The 'complete' 28-year-old was relegated to the Championship for a second time in three seasons this year and is now likely to depart, despite having two years left on his contract.
Man United are believed to be targeting a new midfielder following Christian Eriksen’s exit on a free transfer, although their priority remains reinforcing the frontline.
The Red Devils have announced Wolves forward Matheus Cunha as their first signing and remain in talks to land Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
