Benitez’s stats in the 2024/25.
The 32-year-old was PSV’s number one option this past season, but he will be leaving at the end of June.
That’s because his contract is expiring and he will not be penning an extension.
This means the Blues or Palace can secure his services on a free transfer.
Everton may find it hard to beat Palace to sign Benitez
Benitez would be an excellent backup goalkeeper for Everton due to his proven experience and reliability.
The 32-year-old has made 134 appearances for them, securing back-to-back Eredivisie titles in 2024 and 2025, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level.
His exploits at Nice in 2018-19 and penalty-saving prowess make him a dependable deputy to Jordan Pickford, offering competition and depth crucial for Everton’s Premier League ambitions.
However, signing Benitez ahead of Crystal Palace will be challenging.
Palace’s interest is more advanced, with ongoing talks reported and they can offer European football next season following their FA Cup triumph, a significant draw for Benitez, who values exposure for Argentina’s national team.
Everton’s lack of European competitions and Palace’s need for another senior goalkeeper may give them the edge.
Benitez’s imminent decision timeline further pressures Everton to outmanoeuvre their rivals swiftly.
