Andy Robertson has confirmed that he has held new contract talks with Liverpool FC.

The left-back last signed a five-year extension in August 2021, which saw his salary increase significantly throughout the agreement.

Robertson currently earns a reported £160,000 per week, making him one of Liverpool’s highest-paid defenders.

The Scot sees his deal at Anfield expire next summer, and despite the imminent arrival of Milos Kerkez, the defender has conducted talks with the club.

The 21-year-old Hungarian international has been linked with Liverpool since November, and his Bournemouth teammate Justin Kluivert recently appeared to confirm the move, telling VoetbalPrimeur: “He’ll probably go there. I hope so for him”

But it seems the club could still have a spot for the 31-year-old despite Kerkez’s arrival.

Speaking to Sky Sports as part of a charity golf day for his AR26 foundation, Robertson revealed that it was just preliminary discussions and he still does not know what his future holds:

“We have discussed it, of course we have,” Robertson said. “You know the club have been… we’ve had good discussions with me and the club but what the future holds I am not sure.

“You know all I know is tomorrow I fly off on holiday and it is well needed. I need a rest after a long season and then I look forward to pre-season, that’s all my focus is, I can’t look too far ahead. I never have done that so I am not going to start doing that now.”

“I know the position I am in and I have only got a year left and a lot is getting spoken about and getting said but my full focus is, you know, focusing on being a dad for the next couple of weeks and enjoying that time with the kids.”
