Exclusive: Man Utd target prioritising Premier League move after Saudi snub, Ineos could face Liverpool competition

Manchester United are in the market for a top-tier number nine this summer with a handful of options to choose from.

When the season ended, many fans assumed that priority number one for Manchester United would be to sign a new striker to replace the struggling Rasmus Hojlund.

This remains the case, despite Ineos swiftly wrapping up United’s £62.5m purchase of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, which is a massive upgrade in the left number 10 position for Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Bryan Mbeumo looks likely to be next for United, with negotiations ongoing with Brentford for the Cameroon international forward.

After these two deals are done, all eyes will turn to a number nine with United set to make an offer for Viktor Gyokeres in the near future. But the Swede is not the only target, with Victor Osimhen also remaining firmly on United’s list.

Victor Osimhen stance on joining Manchester United

United have been keen on Osimhen for months, as United in Focus has consistently confirmed. Over the past few months, United scouts watched Osimhen and were blown away by his application and physicality, and his finishing goes without saying.

Now, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has spoken with United in Focus to reveal that Osimhen remains a real option for the Red Devils.

“We’ve known about United and Osimhen for months, and it is genuine interest. United have known his wage demands and that he is prioritising a move to England for months; he has always wanted a Premier League move.

“I understand after talking with a source close to the player that we can confirm Osimhen is not basing his decision on money, if he were, he would have accepted the Saudi offer. He does, however, believe he is one of the best strikers in world football and wants to be paid as such, which doesn’t mean he will be demanding Saudi money from United.

“He knows United are an option and he wants to come to England. Chelsea is not an option; however, I am told not to rule out Liverpool.

“While not being concerned about Champions League football, he is not going to want to come and never play Champions League. United will have sold him the project with Bruno Fernandes staying, Cunha and Mbeumo joining.”

How much would Victor Osimhen cost Manchester United?

Osimhen is the best possible striker signing United could make this summer, but that will be reflected in the price being demanded.

Napoli are holding out for an offer of £63.5m to sell; however, United will be able to get this down due to the Italian club being keen to sell. Additionally, Napoli is interested in Joshua Zirkzee and has also been credited with a keenness for Rasmus Hojlund.

Al-Hilal had agreed on this fee with Napoli prior to Osimhen rejecting a move to the Saudi Pro League. Osimhen turned down what we imagine to be super wages at the Saudi club, but United would likely just have to match his £209k-a-week Napoli wage, as per Capology.

This would make Osimhen United’s fifth-highest earner, and he would likely be worth every penny.
