Trent Alexander-Arnold was formally introduced as Real Madrid’s newest Galactico on Thursday morning at Ciudad Real Madrid, the club’s training ground.
The 26-year-old is the second summer arrival to be officially presented, following defender Dean Huijsen’s unveiling earlier in the week.
The event took place at 12:30 CET, with Alexander-Arnold welcomed by club president Florentino Perez.
Liverpool allowed their academy graduate to leave for a fee of €10 million (£8.4 million), allowing Alexander-Arnold to join Los Blancos ahead of his Liverpool contract’s June 30 expiration.
This early release enables the defender to participate in the upcoming Club World Cup, which begins June 15 in the United States.
Alexander-Arnold signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2031
During his unveiling, the former Red mentioned Liverpool fans, saying that the fans were outstanding and that he was ultimately happy with his send-off:
“I’ve known it was coming to an end and it was always going to be emotional, but I went out in a way I was happy about, the send-off I got, the fans were outstanding, I couldn’t say a bad word.”
“Speaking to the players, manager, the owners, [they] showed amazing support and were a huge help.”
“The owners were very warm and welcoming and thanked me for the service, wished me well on my journey and said I am always welcome back so to have those words spoken was amazing. Sent off in the perfect way.”
He added that he will always be indebted to the club:
“I will be forever grateful to Liverpool and will always be indebted to the club for that. I spent 20 years there and enjoyed every minute.”
“I thought it was the right moment for me [to leave], having achieved everything, being the age I am.”
“I feel like I am mature, ready, experienced to go and be successful somewhere else.”
