From Portugal: Arsenal make offer below€60m, Manchester United set to bid more

Earlier today, we covered reports from various Portuguese newspapers about the drama around Viktor Gyökeres at the moment.

Some of the claims related to interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, with both clubs said to have met the player’s representatives. The Gunners were thought to be ahead and it was claimed an offer was expected to arrive in the next few hours.

Now, Mais Futebol in Portugal report Arsenal have made an offer for the striker.

They’re prepared to pay Sporting a fixed fixed below €60m, with bonuses on top which would take it higher. That isn’t high enough for Sporting, who are looking for around €80m.

Mais Fuebol also claim Manchester United are ‘ready to make an official offer of €60m fixed, with another €10m for objectives’. That also isn’t enough for Sporting, and it’s stated the Red Devils are having problems with Gyökeres’ camp too.

The source involved here, Mais Futebol, isn’t one of the biggest in Portugal, but the article is written by Bruno Andrade, who is a well known journalist. The article is also carried by CNN Portugal.

Arsenal are expected to continue negotiations.
