Manchester United's director of football Jason Wilcox has described Matheus Cunha as "one of the most exciting and productive forwards in England" following completion of his move to Old Trafford.

United announced they had signed the attacker from Wolves on June 1 after triggering his £62.5million release clause, subject to him obtaining a visa and registration.

United have now wrapped up the transfer, and Cunha has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option of an additional 12 months.

The Reds pinpointed the 26-year-old as one of their top targets for this summer's transfer window several months ago and he is expected to occupy the left-sided No.10 position at Old Trafford.

"Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window," Wilcox said.

"He has proved his ability to succeed in the Premier League as one of the most exciting and productive forwards in England during his time at Wolves, and, before that, in Spain and Germany.

"He has all the qualities we are looking for as we seek to build a strong, dynamic and entertaining team capable of challenging for the biggest honours."

Cunha has joined United following a stellar 2024/25 campaign at Wolves in which he scored 17 goals across all competitions, including 15 in the Premier League.

He has scored 27 goals in the top flight since the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign.
