Manchester United have already put a dent in Newcastle United’s transfer plans by winning the battle for Bryan Mbeumo’s signature.
Despite Newcastle United qualifying for the Champions League and Manchester United finishing 15th, it did not take long for Bryan Mbeumo to decide where he wants to go this summer.
Mbeumo made it clear he wants to join Man United this summer and Ineos are now in negotiations with Brentford to get a deal over the line.
United have already bid £45m for Mbeumo but it was too far away from Brentford’s valuation and a second bid is now expected for the 25-year-old.
Newcastle have had to move on from Mbeumo, but now the Red Devils could add to their anger by moving for another of their top targets.

Man United should enter James Trafford transfer race
United’s first priority this summer was overhauling Ruben Amorim’s attacking options and with Matheus Cunha confirmed, a bid submitted for Mbeumo and talks underway for Viktor Gyokeres, Ineos are quickly making that happen.
Once the front line is sorted, Amorim wants a new goalkeeper this summer after the underwhelming performances of both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir this season.
As per The Mirror, Newcastle are preparing a £30 million bid for Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford, but he would also be an ideal candidate for the Red Devils this summer.

United have been linked to Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emiliano Martinez this summer and both options will likely be higher on Ineos’ shopping list than Trafford, but his record-breaking season in the Championship shouldn’t be ignored.
James Trafford fixes multiple issues at Man United
United are not yet sure if they want a new No.1 or No.2 goalkeeper this summer – or perhaps both.
There are talks ongoing with Tom Heaton over a contract renewal to keep the veteran 39-year-old at Old Trafford next season, but United will need a new shot-stopper that can play regularly.
Trafford is well-known by Jason Wilcox, the newly-appointed sporting director at Old Trafford. The 22-year-old has already gathered experience in the Premier League but it is his remarkable record last season that will attract United to make a move.
In a season where Burnley were promoted to the Premier League by finishing second, Trafford conceded just 16 goals in the entire 46-match campaign – a new record.

Not only would Trafford arrive in Manchester off the back of his best season yet, but he would also act as another homegrown player in Amorim’s squad.
The Premier League rules state United need eight homegrown players in their 2025/26 squad and with Jonny Evans leaving and Marcus Rashford headed for the exit, their spots will need to be filled.
