Sporting Club de Portugal are set to earn more from selling Geovany Quenda to Chelsea this summer, than any deal with Arsenal or Manchester United for Viktor Gyökeres.
That’s [according to A Bola](https://www.abola.pt/opinioes/noticias/sporting-recebe-menos-por-gyokeres-que-por-quenda-2025061214230729187), who cover the situation around the Swedish striker today and how any exit won’t be wildly profitable for the Portuguese club.
The newspaper explains that while Gyökeres’ departure is inevitable, it still needs to be determined. Arsenal and Manchester United are currently said to be leading the race, but it’s a deal to be worked out amid the ongoing fallout between the striker and Sporting.
What price he departs for remains to be determined, given Sporting are now insistent that he will not go for the €60 + €10m that Gyökeres’ agent insist was agreed upon.
The problem is that he cost the club €24m to sign from Coventry City, who still hold a right to 10% of any profit from a future sale. That means any profit will be decreased and is unlikely to get near the €52.1m they received from Quenda’s sale to Chelsea.
Gyökeres would have to leave for more than €80m for him to beat the Quenda deal, but that doesn’t seem possible at this moment in time.
It is, perhaps, because of that Sporting are pushing for as much as possible and has potentially led to the disagreement now dominating the news.
It’s up to Arsenal or Manchester United to now get a deal done, although whatever figure they offer won’t see Sporting make more than their Chelsea deal for Quenda.
