The Indiana Pacers pushed past the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, earning a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals and bringing themselves just two wins away from a championship.
The Thunder aren’t remotely out of the running yet, but NBA history paints a stark and frightening picture for them.
According to Legion Hoops, teams that go up 2-1 win 81 percent of the NBA Finals.
The Pacers have an advantage, but will the Thunder be part of that rare 19 percent?

It was a full team effort from the Pacers on Wednesday.
There were multiple stars who were able to do a lot for Indiana, and the Thunder had a tough time shutting any of them down.
From Bennedict Mathurin to Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, and more, the Pacers were hurting OKC in many ways.
It is important to note that the Thunder are not a team that stays down for long.
They have a strong and reliable ability to bounce back after a loss, so they will come back even stronger in Game 4.
But the Pacers might too, which would pose a serious problem.
There were questions and concerns about Indiana, but they have shown they deserve to be there.
They aren’t a fluke or a flash in the pan.
This is a proven team that has a wonderful ability to step up during the playoffs.
Thunder fans are definitely nervous right now, but they should also have faith in their team.
Oklahoma City knows how to rebound and rebuild, and they are surely hard at work building a plan to rally and get back into this series.
One thing is certain: Game 4 is going to be must-watch basketball.
