Report: Pelicans ‘aggressively’ looking to trade into Top 3 of NBA Draft

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Pelicans have a No. 7 lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft in two weeks, and they may be looking to make a splash.

Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin O’Connor reports that league sources have told him that Joe Dumars’ front office has been ‘aggressively’ trying to turn their No. 7 pick into one in the Top 3.

O’Connor revealed what he’s heard from league sources in his most recent mock draft. O’Connor said his sources have told him that the Pelicans are targeting swingman Ace Bailey out of Rutgers if they can move up to the No. 3 pick.

O’Connor suggested that the Pelicans can make this possible by offering Herb Jones and a low-value 2026 first-round pick they have from the Pacers.

MORE PELICANS

Bailey, 18, is the prospect with a skillset most comparable to presumed No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg out of Duke. The 6′10 playmaker is capable as a shooter anywhere on the floor and with the ball in his hands. He’s a young, raw prospect but has a ceiling high enough to develop into a star in the right program.

This season at Rutgers, Bailey averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, and one steal per game while shooting 17.6 percent from the floor.
