La Liga Manager Names Liverpool And Arsenal As Clubs That "Want" 29 Goal Striker

**Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has admitted that the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal “want” to sign Julian Alvarez.**

The Argentinian international only joined the La Liga side from Manchester City last summer, but there have been rumours that Premier League clubs are [**keen**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-julian-alvarez/) to bring him back to England. Responding to the speculation, Simeone said:

“Julian is 25 years old, he’s an extraordinary player, with hunger, with enthusiasm, with humility, with work, with goals, with hierarchy. How could everyone not want him? Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool… the best have to want him. And for us, Atletico fans, it should be a source of pride that everyone wants him. Why? Because he’s ours And since he’s ours, we have to take care of him. We have to help him feel happy.”

“How will he feel happy? By winning. And to get there, we all have to give 110 percent. And not just for him, of course, but for everyone.”

Alvarez had a strong first season in Spain

------------------------------------------

The 25-year-old initially found it difficult to find the back of the net for Atletico but he ended up scoring 29 goals in all competitions by the conclusion of his first campaign.

Considering how defensively Simeone sets up his team, it is a testament to Alvarez and his ability that he was so prolific.

Will Liverpool table a bid for the striker?

-------------------------------------------

With Arne Slot’s side set to splash out £128m on Florian Wirtz, it seems highly unlikely that there will be funds to pursue Alvarez in the same transfer window.

Atletico paid £82m to bring him to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and it is believed that they would demand well in excess of £100m to offload him in the future. There are also question marks over whether the player would be interested in moving back to the Premier League.
