"Liverpool will": Shearer makes exciting claim after seeing what Liverpool are up to

**Alan Shearer has evaluated Liverpool’s summer transfer activity and come to the conclusion that the Reds will once again be the top dogs in the Premier League next season.**

As things stand, Arne Slot has signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen but is also set to add Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez to the squad he dominated the league with on his first attempt.

Already an English league title holder, Slot has plenty of room for error given the good will he has secured from supporters by delivering the club’s 20th league title.

Yet, he is hardly resting on his laurels.

Given that Liverpool have done very little transfer business in recent windows, their spending is hardly out of order especially given it’s off the back of a championship-winning campaign.

And Shearer believes that although Arsenal will strengthen and Man City have already spent hundreds of millions in 2025, Liverpool will be the dominant side next term.

_“The Milos Kerkez transfer isn’t done yet, but you’d imagine that it’s going to be done,”_ the Premier League’s top scorer of all time said.

Liverpool are closing in on a £45m deal to sign the Hungarian – a major coup after the 21-year-old was named in the Premier League Team of the Season.

Shearer continued: _“They’ve got Frimpong and if they get Kerkez and Wirtz, which is looking likely, then that’ll be really, really good business from Liverpool._

_“It’s an incredible amount of money that they’re looking at with Florian Wirtz, but he’s a really, really talented player, there’s no doubt about that._

_“Because Liverpool didn’t sign anyone last year, other than Chiesa, I guess they’ve got money to spend and they had to do that with Trent leaving._

_“You could tell from Andy Robertson’s interview towards the end of the season that they were going to go in that direction and look at another left-back, so yeah, not surprising, but it could be really good business for Liverpool._

_“When you look at the business Man City have completed so far, I don’t suspect they’re finished either. Particularly with the money spent in January and so far this summer, it’ll be a really, really interesting summer because we know that Arsenal need to buy a forward to improve._

_“We know that Newcastle are going to invest, so it’ll be a really interesting summer, but I’d guess that Liverpool will be the team to chase again.”_
