Khalil Mack Reveals Why He Re-Signed With Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers managed to keep one of their key veterans this offseason.

Even at 34 years old, star pass rusher Khalil Mack drew interest from other NFL teams.

However, he chose to stay in Los Angeles and recently said it was an easy decision that wasn’t driven by money.

Mack signed a one-year, $18 million contract.

> “I had to be fair in the approach to things and not making it about just finances and all the different things,” Mack [said](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45495317/khalil-mack-los-angeles-chargers-extension). “I tried to make it more so just about winning ball games.”

Despite being one of the best players of his generation, Mack hasn’t found success in the postseason.

He’s been to the playoffs five times and he has yet to win a game.

That includes a heartbreaking come-from-behind loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2022 season.

However, he firmly believes that the Chargers can go all the way and win the Super Bowl in his 12th campaign.

Mack posted the second-lowest sacks total of his career (6.0) and struggled with a groin injury last season.

But he was given earned his ninth Pro Bowl selection, and he had two sacks and five QB pressures in a playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

Knowing that he’s approaching the end of his career, Mack will have more than enough motivation to be at his best in 2025.
