Minicamp Notebook | Tight ends have a day, Beane comments on James Cook's participation,…

"Jimbo will be ready to roll." | Beane on James Cook's participation in mandatory minicamp

Running back James Cook participated in all three mandatory minicamp practices this week after missing voluntary OTAs. When Cook reported to minicamp, the running back was open and honest about wanting to participate to set an example as a leader and work towards the goal of the Super Bowl.

As Cook seeks a new deal, Brandon Beane said the communication between the two parties have been good.

"Our interactions with Jimbo have been good the whole time throughout," Beane shared. "I know he wasn't here, so everyone just draws their own conclusions when you're talking about it's voluntary…Jimbo, he's a pro, he's a competitive dude. He loves to win. Of course, he wants to take care of himself. Everyone does, and we love to see that…It's good to see him. He looks good out there. You can tell he's been working."

Regarding an update on how contract talks are going, Beane wants to keep that in-house.

"I'll keep that between us as far as that's going," Beane said. "But the relationship's very good. I know Jimbo's going to be ready to roll when we get to Rochester."

Buffalo's GM was also asked if he expects Cook to participate in training camp practices.

"You'd have to ask him," Beane said. "He hasn't said, 'Hey, I won't be there. There's no deal.' Or any kind of circumstances. So no, I believe Jimbo will be ready to roll whether there's a deal or not."
