Arsenal ex-target who snubbed £50m transfer 'wants to join Man Utd' this summer

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is hoping that Manchester United offer him the opportunity to move to the Premier League this summer, according to reports. The 25-year-old has previously had the chance to test himself in England's top flight when Arsenal pursued his signature in 2022, but he rejected an Emirates Stadium switch.

Three years ago, Arsenal submitted a £50million bid to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina as Mikel Arteta sought a new goalscorer. However, then 22, he ended up joining Juventus in a £66m deal and later insisted that a move to Turin was the only option for him.

"Maybe my agent knows [about Arsenal’s offer], but I never talked to anyone about it. I just had one club in my mind because Juventus is Juventus," Vlahovic told the Telegraph.

"There is nothing else to say. And now I feel honoured to be given this jersey. It’s incredible every time I put it on. I definitely identify with their DNA. The Juventus personality coincides with my personality."

Vlahovic has scored 56 goals in 142 appearances for Juventus and has reportedly accepted that he doesn't feature in the club's future plans.

According to GIVEMESPORT, the Serbia international is ready to pursue a fresh challenge to secure more regular game time and wants to land in the Premier League.

It's claimed that Vlahovic is desperate to challenge himself in England and that he will be offered to United as Ruben Amorim searches for a new striker.

Juventus are said to have informed Vlahovic that he is surplus to requirements, but he is confident he can adjust to the demands of Premier League football.

The report adds that the towering Serb would want a contract worth £200,000-a-week after recording 20 goal contributions in 41 outings last season.

And Vlahovic is ready to ignore interest from Turkey until the possibility of joining United or one of the Red Devils' domestic rivals is off the table.

He has been described as desperate to find an English suitor, with the Old Trafford giants primed to hear about his availability from intermediaries.

GIVEMESPORT also state that Nottingham Forest are showing interest as Nuno Espirito Santo explores potential competition for Chris Wood ahead of the club's Conference League campaign.

But while Vlahovic could be holding out for United, he hasn't been among the strikers regularly linked so far this summer.

Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Hugo Ekitike all appear to be higher on Amorim's shortlist.
