£20m-rated Man Utd attacker’s Old Trafford return could be short-lived as three clubs 'monitoring developments' after…

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho could be handed a lifeline after three clubs are now ‘battling’ it out to sign the Chelsea player this summer, according to reports.

Jadon Sancho’s current contract with Chelsea will expire on 30th June and the 25-year-old Blues player is now expected to return to Old Trafford this summer.

The Manchester United winger spent the entirety of the 2024-25 Premier League season out on loan after Chelsea signed him from the Red Devils last August.

Chelsea’s deal for Sancho included an obligation for the Blues to sign the former England international for a transfer fee between £20m to £25m this summer.

The aforementioned obligation for Sancho was triggered in April after it was confirmed that Chelsea would finish above 15th place in the Premier League.

However, it later emerged that the Blues had a £5m clause that they could pay United instead of signing Sancho on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Man Utd and Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho is now on the transfer radar for three Premier League clubs

Chelsea confirmed earlier this month that Jadon Sancho would be sent back to Old Trafford and the club would incur the £5m penalty fee to Manchester United.

The Blues didn’t pay a loan fee for the transfer in 2024 and the Premier League club reportedly covered half of Sancho’s mammoth United wages last season.

However, it was reported that Sancho’s representatives and Chelsea could not come to an agreement over a permanent transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Sancho would have seen his wages drop at Chelsea had the Blues signed him for a fee between £20m to £25m at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

According to The Sun, Sancho has now been linked with three Premier League clubs after his Chelsea transfer collapsed earlier this month.

The newspaper reports that Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle are now ‘all monitoring developments’ around the player ahead of his return to United.

Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho is now in a battle against time to secure his next transfer ahead of his Man Utd return

The Sun claims that Aston Villa would be ‘keen’ to take Sancho out on loan, but United want to free up their wages and offload the player as part of their rebuild.

The publication added that Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in the former Three Lions star and Sancho is viewed as a ‘strong option’ for them.

Both of the aforementioned Premier League teams are looking to ‘build squads’ that can compete in both the Premier League and the Champions League next season.

Sancho, who is under contract with United until 2026, made 41 appearances for Chelsea last season and he netted five times and registered 10 assists for the club.
