The Viktor Gyokeres transfer drama has escalated further, just a day after Sporting's president Frederico Varandas lashed out at the forward's agent following rumours about his price tag.
Gyokeres, who's on the radar of both Manchester United and Arsenal, appears to have clapped back at Varandas via social media with a cryptic message.
On Wednesday, the Sporting boss doused speculation that the club would accept a bargain £59million for their prized asset this summer.
He clarified that although they won't stick rigidly to Gyokeres' £85m buyout clause, there was no agreement on a reduced fee with his agent Hasan Cetinkaya during last summer's discussions.
Varandas emphasised that Gyokeres wouldn't be sold for the speculated amount, hinting that interested parties will need to up their offers when the auction kicks off.

This comes on the heels of reports from Portugal suggesting the 27-year-old was incensed by Sporting reneging on a supposed gentleman's agreement regarding their valuation.
It's believed Gyokeres has informed Sporting he refuses to play for them again due to perceived disrespect, effectively downing tools to secure a transfer, reports the Express.
In the midst of the tumult, the Swedish striker has taken to Instagram to address the furore with a brief statement on his story.
Gyokeres stated: "There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right."
The ex-Coventry City forward has made a name for himself as one of Europe's deadliest strikers since he swapped England for Sporting in 2023.

Gyokeres has racked up an impressive 97 goals in 102 matches for the Lisbon titans, largely under the watchful eye of United gaffer Ruben Amorim.
He's rumoured to be high on Amorim's hitman wishlist, rubbing shoulders with Victor Osimhen, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Hugo Ekitike.
