Tottenham Hotspur have now officially revealed their new coaching team after Ange Postecoglou was sacked following the club’s worst season on record in the Premier League.
Despite winning the Europa League, therefore qualifying for the Champions League, Postecoglou couldn’t save his Spurs career, with Thomas Frank now set to succeed the New Zealand manager.
Now, Spurs have made the move official, bringing the Danish manager from Brentford, as they release an official statement.
In their reveal of Frank as their new manager, Tottenham’s statement read: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas Frank as our new Head Coach on a contract that runs until 2028.”
It continued: “Thomas has extensive experience in English football having joined Brentford in 2016 – since becoming one of the longest-serving current managers in the Premier League. During his time at Brentford he transformed the Club, moving them up from the Championship to an established Premier League side, consistently and significantly outperforming expectations for an extended period of time.
“In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game. He has a proven track record in player and squad development and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead.”
However, as the London-based club went on to announce Frank’s team, United fans will recognise two familiar faces.
First is Justin Cochrane who’s been Frank’s assistant manager at Brentford, set to follow him keeping his same role with Spurs. Prior to joining The Bees, Cochrane was the director of development at Old Trafford between 2021 and 2022.
However, the second name is much more recent, with Andreas Georgson set to join Spurs as their first team assistant coach alongside Cochrane.
Georgson joined United under the INEOS reign, coming in as a set-piece specialist, having done impressive work with Southampton over recent years.
The Swedish coach departed Old Trafford last month as his role as an assistant manager focused on set-pieces is also covered by Carlos Fernandes, duplicating the role in the backroom staff.
Now, Georgson is set to reunite with Frank after their six month stint together at Brentford in 2020.
