Though his time with the franchise has come to an end, Jason Kelce is still a beloved figure within the Philadelphia Eagles fan base. On Thursday afternoon, the longtime center reacted to one person's shocking tribute to him.
Eagles fans have a reputation for being a passionate and rowdy bunch when it comes to their football team. This was on full display on social media, as one supporter went to extreme levels to showcase their love for the team.
In a video that has quickly gone viral online, one Eagles fan decided to honor Kelce with a tattoo. However, it isn't anything like one would expect. Kelce is shirtless in the depiction and has the Eagles logo head coming out from between his legs.
As the tattoo quickly started making the rounds on social media, it garnered a reaction from Kelce as well. He is rather stunned by the gesture and doesn't really know how to feel about the whole situation.
"I'm not sure if I should be offended or flattered," Kelce wrote on X.
When the Eagles drafted Kelce in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, nobody expected him to become such a foundational piece of the franchise. He'd go on to be a key part of the offense as one of the NFL's top centers. Kelce was also among the league's most durable linemen in his career, playing in at least 16 games in 11 of his 13 seasons. Upon retirement, Kelce finished his career with seven Pro-Bowl nominations, six All-Pro selections, and is a one-time champion.
After helping deliver the Eagles a championship in 2017, Kelce hung around for years in hopes of getting back to the mountaintop. He came close to going out on top but ended up falling short against his brother Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Not long after his retirement, the Eagles managed to get back to the game's biggest stage and got revenge on Patrick Mahomes and company.
While his playing days might be over, Kelce will forever be adored by Eagles fans. This situation is a testament to that, as fans are still more than willing to get tattoos done of him.
Since walking away as a player, Kelce has found different ways to stay around the game of football. He quickly transitioned into an on-screen career as an NFL analyst for ESPN. When he isn't giving his football takes and insights on TV, he is doing so via his viral "New Heights" podcast with Travis.
