Kristaps Porzingis appears to be available on the trade market, but that doesn’t mean the Boston Celtics want to trade the big man. “Porzingis, I think is available,” Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix said while joining “The Kevin O’Connor Show” released Tuesday. “But I think they (Celtics) would like to get Porzingis back long-term at a lower price point on his next deal.” Porzingis, who the Celtics acquired before the 2023-24 campaign, is set to enter his final year under contract in 2025-26. He’ll carries a cap hit of $30.7 million next season, meaning he’s one of four players currently on the Celtics roster — Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday — set to eclipse that number. Derrick White ($28.1 million) is not far behind either. The Green possess a historic payroll entering the campaign and are expected to trade pieces from their championship-caliber roster. Porzingis might be an enticing addition for another squad, but if Boston can come to terms on an extension that’ll pay him less, perhaps the 29-year-old sticks around in hopes of hanging another banner.
