TUNICA, Miss. (WMC) - Kids around the Delta got the chance to learn from one of the best in the business, Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl-winning Linebacker Nakobe Dean.
“I never really had nothing in this area that I knew about, like a camp or anything, so it is definitely a blessing to be able to do this,” Dean said.
The free camp brought kids from around the area to Tunica, Dean’s mother’s hometown. He said he wanted to do it there because he knows people in the area don’t have as much.
Dean gave out bags filled with food for the kids to keep as well, and he said anytime he can come back home and have an impact, it is special.
“It is a real special feeling, I know how we grew up, I know the area we are in. This is my mom’s hometown, and just be able to give the kids something to do, and from the football standpoint, it is a blessing,” Dean said.
Dean is coming off the best season of his NFL career, but it was one that was cut short due to injury. Dean tore his patellar tendon in January but said he feels good and is excited to get back.
“I feel great, I am confident in my game, and I am going to continue to get better, rehab is going great, I am going to continue to get better every day and come back better than ever,” Dean said.
