However, Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson doesn’t seem too impressed with what appears to be Luka’s annually fluctuating physique. Speaking on ESPN's First Take, Magic emphasized that a move to LA should come with a shift in mindset.
"Luka gotta understand this is not Dallas," Magic stated.
"Kobe, God rest his soul, superstar who led us, Shaq led us to a championship, LeBron led us. And that’s what’s missing here. We shouldn’t have to tell you to be in shape — you should have been about that," he said.
The Lakers’ playoff run ended early this season, falling 1–4 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round after finishing as the third seed in the Western Conference.
Despite ongoing chatter about his conditioning, he looked like the best player in that series, averaging 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in his first postseason appearance with the Lakers.
