Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl has made a candid admission about their transfer capabilities, revealing that the club couldn't match Liverpool's hefty offers for Leverkusen's Wirtz.
The Merseyside giants have seen three bids turned down for the 22-year-old sensation, with the most recent proposal reaching a staggering £113m.
Despite Bayern being crowned Bundesliga champions for the 2024/25 season and holding firm on their valuation of Wirtz, Liverpool and Leverkusen are still hashing out terms following the player's preference for a switch to the Premier League titans over Bayern and Manchester City.
Eberl, however, has expressed doubts over Bayern's financial muscle to compete with Liverpool's lucrative bids, even if Wirtz had fancied a move to the Allianz Arena.
In a chat with Sky Sport Germany regarding their failed attempt to land the German star, Eberl confessed: "If I'm being honest, I don't know if we could have matched what Liverpool are apparently paying now.
