Aston Villa transfer target told to find new club after squad omission

Axel Disasi, who is reportedly open to rejoining Aston Villa on a permanent basis this summer, will be one of a host of players who have been left out of Chelsea's Club World Cup squad and made available for transfer.

Centre half Disasi joined Villa on loan in the January transfer window, for the second half of the campaign. He made 10 appearances for the club, including five Premier League starts and run-outs in the Champions League as Villa reached the quarter finals of the European competition.

The Frenchman cost Chelsea more than £35m when he signed from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the summer of 2023, but after only two years at Stamford Bridge - and with still four years left on his Blues contract - it looks as though the writing may be on the wall and a permanent departure is on the cards.

Disasi, 27, is not alone in being reportedly told to find a new club; the Conference League champions, who qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season with victory over Nottingham Forest, have informed a number of first-team players to look elsewhere if they want regular game-time in the new season.

Joao Felix, admired by Unai Emery for some time, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are the other players not part of Enzo Maresca's plans. Felix was loaned out to AC Milan last year, Sterling to Arsenal and Chilwell to FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, but none of those players appear to be returning to Chelsea with many future prospects.

Disasi, who operated at right-back as much as he did centre half during his time at Villa, is supposedly keen to return to B6 permanently having enjoyed his loan spell. Emery is also said to be open to welcoming the international back into his squad on a more prolonged basis if a deal can be struck with Chelsea. Transfermarkt currently value him at £22m.
