Arsenal confidence has club looking elsewhere – Manchester City star now eyed, willing to wait

Real Madrid are already looking at alternatives to Martin Zubimendi, so convinced are they that Arsenal have wrapped up a deal for him.

That’s according to AS, who say the focus is now on Manchester City’s Rodri, who they would be willing to wait for.

The newspaper explains that Madrid have taken note of the ‘discouraging’ news coming from England regarding Zubimendi. They are aware that Arsenal are confident that they’ve got their man and that the deal is completely closed for him.

The belief is that it is impossible for the Spanish side to intervene in a deal that Arsenal have had done for some time.

They’ve been reaching out to the layer but there is little they can do when Arsenal are paying his release clause and offering an ‘astronomical salary’ that they cannot match.

So, the Spanish giants are already considering other solutions. First, they will see what happens at the Club World Cup and if new signing Dean Huijsen can cope being a ball playing defender. It will be his job to give the ball to the midfield in front of him.

If that’s successful it is possible Madrid will wait and wait for their big target, Manchester City’s Rodri, to become available. His current deal expires in 2027 so next summer is seen as the real period in which to go for him.

The belief is that if he doesn’t sign a new deal Manchester City will be forced to sell and at a lower price as well. It’s a wait and see situation, but Arsenal’s confidence over Zubimendi has them looking elsewhere regardless.
