Real Madrid Tipped to Make a Move for Ex-Liverpool Star Firmino

Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a move for former Liverpool favourite Roberto Firmino.

Real Madrid Eye Firmino as Veteran Back-Up

Real Madrid are reportedly tipped to bring in Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino. The Los Blancos are looking for a top and experienced goalscorer for the 2025/26 campaign.

Real ended last season just behind Barcelona in La Liga. They want to strengthen their strike force. Firmino was part of the star trio at Liverpool which included Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. He is seen as an ideal backup. He will have a similar role to what Joselu had last season.

Joselu played a key role during Madrid’s 2024 Champions League-winning campaign. With him now in Saudi Arabia, Firmino has emerged as a target. He will bring in experience and leadership. The 33-year-old has so far scored 21 goals in 65 games for Al-Ahli, and he most recently lifted the AFC Champions League Elite title as captain too.

Potential Reunion With Trent and Xabi

Firmino’s name has been in the Madrid mix before. That is even before his Reds’ exit in 2023. Now, talks have picked up again. Meanwhile, Real has signed his former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Brazilian would reunite not only with Trent but also with new Madrid boss Xabi Alonso.

Meanwhile, Gonzalo Garcia is still developing at Madrid’s academy. The idea is to have Brazil star as a mentor in the squad. He’s expected to take on a similar role Joselu did. He is someone that can sub on, make a difference and be counting on for some key moments.

Having fellow Brazilians Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao may also assist him. He has had a great run at Liverpool. So, this could be a final chapter in his career at one of football’s biggest stages.
