Kobbie Mainoo had no hesitation in answering a telling question from Bruno Fernandes about one first-team Manchester United teammate at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes signed off the 2024-25 season in sensational form and the 30-year-old Manchester United captain remained as influential as ever for his side.
The United midfielder netted an impressive 19 times and registered 19 assists in 57 matches for the Red Devils last season under manager Ruben Amorim.
Fernandes’ stunning run of form earned the Portugal international the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a record-tying fourth time in his prolific spell.
The United star also committed his future to the Premier League club this summer after Fernandes was linked with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in recent weeks.
Fernandes, who is under contract with United until 2026, rejected a lucrative move to Al Hilal and reiterated his desire to play a key role under Ruben Amorim.

Kobbie Mainoo’s season in the Manchester United first-team squad was disrupted by injuries in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign and his appearances were limited.

The 20-year-old Stockport-born midfielder made 37 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils and Mainoo scored twice and picked up an assist.
Mainoo’s current deal with United expires in 2027 and the Red Devils have reportedly opened talks over a new contract with the England midfielder.
The Three Lions international remains a key first-team player at Old Trafford and Mainoo is expected to play a bigger role for Ruben Amorim next season.
Marcus Rashford, who is on loan at Aston Villa, shared photos of himself on social media holding a racket in his hand while playing on the court.
Fernandes was spotted in the comments of the Aston Villa player’s post and the United skipper couldn’t help but ask Mainoo a question about Marcus Rashford.

Tagging Mainoo’s Instagram handle, Fernandes asked his United teammate: “You think he can beat us?”
Mainoo wasted no time reacting to Fernandes’ question and the United and England midfielder simply responded with a “negative” comment.

What is next for Man Utd player Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford after his Aston Villa spell?
Marcus Rashford spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign out on loan after he fell down the Red Devils pecking order under United manager Amorim.
Aston Villa’s deal to sign Rashford from United did include an option to make his stay permanent at Villa Park for a £40m transfer fee, but the club have not triggered it.
Rashford was able to secure regular playing time away from Old Trafford and the United loanee was able to climb back into the England national team.
Villa did not pay a loan fee for Rashford’s transfer and the Premier League club covered the majority of the 27-year-old’s United wages during the loan spell. Rashford’s contract with Villa will expire on 30th June and he will return to Old Trafford this summer if he is not able to sign for another club before then
