Manchester United make contact over Hugo Ekitike deal
Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for Hugo Ekitike.
Along with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, the French Under-21 international is among the most sought-after strikers in Europe this summer after successfully reviving his career in Germany at Eintracht Frankfurt following a difficult spell at Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool and Chelsea have both been heavily linked with Ekitike as well as a host of other suitors from the continent, though Old Trafford could yet be his next destination.
According to Sky Germany, Manchester United are now firmly in the running for the 22-year-old, having made contact with Frankfurt.
However, they will have to splash €100m (£85m) in order to sign Ekitike after spending £62.5m on Matheus Cunha and trying to push through another expensive deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

Liverpool agree Florian Wirtz deal in British record
Liverpool have finally clinched the massive signing of Florian Wirtz.
The Reds had been locked in talks with Bayer Leverkusen for weeks over a club-record deal that would see him quickly reunite with Jeremie Frimpong at Anfield.
After numerous hefty bids were rejected during the course of lengthy negotiations, it seems that Liverpool have their man at long last.
Per multiple outlets this morning including The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Paul Joyce of The Times, the Premier League champions have now agreed a deal for Wirtz that will see them pay £100m guaranteed plus a potential further £16m in add-ons.
If those bonuses are met, it would overtake Chelsea’s £115m deal with Brighton for Moises Caicedo in the summer of 2023 as the most expensive transfer in the history of British football.
Wirtz is now expected to pen a five-year contract at Liverpool and undergo a medical, having apparently chosen them over the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Arsenal plot new Viktor Gyokeres bid
Have Arsenal changed their mind again from Benjamin Sesko to Viktor Gyokeres?
Both have long been heavily linked with high-profile transfers to the Emirates Stadium this summer as the Gunners finally pursue a statement striker signing, though it appeared that Sesko was the top target amid lengthy talks with RB Leipzig over the Slovenian international.
However, it could now be that Gyokeres is back in the lead, with reports from Portugal this week that they met with the prolific Swede’s agent amid all the latest drama over his future at Sporting and saw an opening bid turned down.
According to Mais Futebol, per Sport Witness, Arsenal are preparing an improved second offer for Gyokeres’ services worth more than an initial €55m (£46.7m) up front and reaching over €70m (£59.5m) including bonuses, with Sporting said to be open to more negotiations.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are believed to only be willing to pay €60m+ €10m, with issues also arising on the player side.
