Jadon Sancho faces an uncertain future after Chelsea paid a penalty fee to avoid an obligation clause following his season-long loan at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United are actively trying to sell players this summer. That way, the club can generate more funds to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Matheus Cunha has signed for United from Wolves in a £62.5 million deal and the Red Devils are now trying to acquire the talents of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo to bolster their attack.
With United eyeing more forward players, it raises further doubt over the future of multiple United loanees, including Antony and Jadon Sancho.
A good summer transfer window could make a big difference for United ahead of the new season. The objective will be for United to improve on their 15th-place finish in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League.

Jadon Sancho open to Aston Villa transfer
United hoped that Sancho would impress enough at Chelsea to warrant a permanent deal.
Instead, United must work with Sancho’s representatives to find the England international a new club.
Sancho’s current deal at Chelsea will expire on 30th June.

While the deal included an obligation for Chelsea to sign Sancho for a transfer fee between £20 million and £25 million, the Blues activated a £5 million clause that they could pay United instead of signing the player on a permanent deal.
Since then, Sancho has been linked with three Premier League clubs.
Aston Villa are one of those clubs after passing on a £40m option to sign Marcus Rashford.
Following a conversation with Graeme Bailey, United In Focus understands that Villa have already asked about Sancho, with the player being open to a move.
“Sancho’s situation is clear – similar to that of Rashford, there is little to no future for him at Old Trafford,” Graeme said. “That is clear from both sides.
“United had hoped that he would join Chelsea, just to put the whole scenario to bed, but his unwillingness to take a drop in wages meant a move to Stamford Bridge was not possible.
“But Sancho’s camp are doing their work on options and we know that Borussia Dortmund want to bring him back – they would be willing to take him on a similar deal to that of Chelsea, but they would need United to contribute to wages too – but that is an issue, in terms of what United are willing to swallow.
“There are options elsewhere, the Saudi Pro League, but it is believed Sancho would rather remain in Europe at this point.
“And there is genuine interest in England. I’m. told that one of the clubs that are open to a potential move for Sancho are Villa. We saw the success they had with loans last season with Rashford and Asensio. And now Sancho is on their radar; he is a player that Emery likes.
“There are other clubs too, he had a decent season at Chelsea, so let’s see how things progress – but to get something done, I think it is inevitable that United have to do something about his wages.”
The straightforward deal with Chelsea won’t be happening, which means Sancho’s representatives need to go back to the drawing board.
Sancho has plenty of time to make something of his career after winning the Europa Conference League at the end of his spell at Chelsea.
Sancho would be a popular buy at Borussia Dortmund
It is no secret that Sancho has struggled in the Premier League, but a move back to Germany could help the winger rekindle his career.
Sancho is already a favourite at the Bundesliga club having scored 53 goals and assisted 67 in 175 appearances for the club.
However, Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl has dismissed the idea that the club are prioritising a move for their former winger.
That doesn’t change the fact that Dortmund fans would be happy if Sancho was to return to the club for a third time.
Sancho was part of the Dortmund side that reached the Champions League final in 2024.
