During the early stages of offseason workouts, Buffalo Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa suffered a calf injury that will keep him out until the start of training camp.
Because of that, Bosa could have easily chosen to rehab his injury away from the organization that gave him a one-year deal this offseason.
That isn't what happened.
Bosa has been with the Bills in Buffalo during his rehab and is still on track to return to the team when training camp begins. ... a major decision from the newcomer.
Calf injuries are always tricky. When left untreated, they could turn into more serious problems. The good news for Bosa is that, according to the front office, his original injury doesn't appear to be too serious.
"Joey's done very well. This time of year I know guys were missing, or some guys were doing individuals, some guys were a little bit of team [drills]. This is about preparation, getting everybody for [training] camp, so if you got any concern at all, why expose them?" said Bills general manager Brandon Beane on Thursday in Orchard Park.
Bosa is being paid to help turn Buffalo's pass rush into one of the best in the NFL. Many young stars will also play with the former Los Angeles Chargers star this season.
Buffalo needs Bosa healthy, though. And that is why they have been very cautious with him after dealing with a calf issue.
The good news is that this shouldn't be a lasting issue ... meaning he should be around in late July and again for a team expected to play until late January and early February.
