'Legacy Be Damned' as Cowboys' Dak Focuses On Super Bowl 'Sanity'

As odd as it may seem, the 2025 season will be Dak Prescott's 10th in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, and he has yet to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

But you can bet your house he thinks about it all the time.

With Prescott approaching his 32nd birthday in the coming months, it is only natural for him to possibly think about the legacy he will leave when his time playing comes to an end.

Yes, we are getting ahead of ourselves here, with Dak likely thinking he has plenty of career ahead of him.

However, he has made it clear that he couldn't care less about his legacy - he wants a championship.

"I want to win a championship," Prescott said. "The legacy, whatever comes after I finish playing, will take care of itself. I want to win a championship, be damned if it's just for my legacy, for this team, for my personal being, for my sanity.

"The legacy will take care of itself, I have to stay where my feet are."

Right now, one can say that Dak's legacy is a good regular season quarterback, but once the postseason rolls around, his 2-5 record sticks out.

Entering Year 10, time is of the essence for Dak to get that elusive Super Bowl, and if he does manage to do that as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, his legacy will be set in stone as a franchise great.

Being "the" guy to end a drought that has lasted nearly three decades, that, my friends, will be Dak's legacy. He was the one to end it.

He's done nearly everything else. Will likely hold the franchise records for wins (18 behind Troy Aikman), passing yards (2,746 behind Tony Romo), and passing touchdowns (35 behind Romo) in the next two or so seasons.

What would be the only thing missing to complete his Cowboys legacy?

A championship.
