Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will likely want to bolster his squad this summer after missing out on the Premier League title once again.
The Gunners have finished as runners-up in the top flight in each of the past three seasons, and Arteta will be keen to go one better next term.
The North London outfit are yet to make a signing this summer, with the transfer window reopening on Monday having closed on Tuesday evening.
With that in mind, it appears that Arsenal are making attempts to sign one of Europe’s most prolific strikers.
As reported by Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol via TBR Football, the Gunners have tabled an offer for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The report claims that the North London side have made an offer of less than £52 million for the Swede, however the bid does include bonuses that would take the fee beyond that amount.

Gyokeres, 27, joined Sporting from Championship side Coventry City in the summer of 2023 and has since established himself as one of the best in Europe in his position.
The Sweden international has scored a staggering 97 goals in 102 games for the Portuguese side across all competitions, as well as providing 28 assists.
It is claimed that the offer has not been well received, with the Portuguese champions standing form on their valuation of at least £68 million for the striker.
Gyokeres is under contract until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Swedish striker will still be playing for the Portuguese side at the start of next term.
Arsenal are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements with both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz having struggled last term, with both injuries and inconsistency.
