Chelsea have contacted Nick Woltemade’s representatives over a move this summer.
That’s according to Bild, who state Chelsea made approach before the start of the UEFA U21 European championship on June 11th.
The forward managed 17 goals and three assists from 33 games in the recently concluded season and earlier claims from Germany stated VfB Stuttgart are requesting €20m to sell him.
That isn’t the case as a source told Sport Witness on June 4th that Stuttgart need at least €40m.
The same source indicated the fee could rise and Bild back that up after he scored a hat-trick to help Germany U21s beat Slovenia U21s in the ongoing U21 Euros on Thursday.
The newspaper says every goal makes him more expensive, but there’s no mention of a figure in the report. They also don’t provide details of Chelsea’s contact with the 23-year-old’s camp.
After yesterday’s match, Bild caught up the attacker and asked him about the Blues’ interest.
“I think that’s part of it. It wouldn’t be optimal scouting if a club didn’t have that on their radar right now,” he said.
When asked if he would be interested to join the UEFA Conference League winners, Woltemade handled it superbly: “I’m not thinking about my future right now.”
His contract lasts until 2028 and Bild report Stuttgart will hold talks with Woltemade over a renewal.
