Can Kentucky guard or Michigan center help Sacramento Kings in NBA draft?

The Sacramento Kings will bring in six more NBA prospects Friday for a pre-draft workout that will feature a number of potential second-round picks.

Kentucky guard Koby Brea, Gonzaga guard Ryan Nembhard and Michigan center Vladislav Goldin are viewed as the top prospects in Friday’s workout. Other participants include Iowa State guard Curtis Jones, St. John’s guard Karay Richmond and Baylor center Norchad Omier.

The Kings will have the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the draft, which will be held June 25-26. They will relinquish the No. 13 pick to the Atlanta Hawks to complete the 2022 trade for Kevin Huerter.

Brea is a 6-foot-6, 202-pound shooting guard who played at Dayton for four years before finishing his college career at Kentucky. He averaged 11.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists as a senior with the Wildcats, shooting 47% from the field and 43.5% from 3-point range on 5.9 attempts per game.

The latest mock draft from Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman has Brea going to the Kings at No. 42. Wasserman compares Brea to Duncan Robinson, writing: “Brea joined a short list of college players 6’6” and over to shoot 42.0 percent on 700 career attempts. Half carved out NBA careers or roles, including Allan Houston, Dennis Scott, Jason Kapono, Kyle Korver, Sam Hauser, Steve Novak. Teams could see a specialist and value with Brea in the second round.”

Tankathon.com has Brea going to the Utah Jazz at No. 43.

Yahoo Sports has Nembhard going to the Milwaukee Bucks at No. 47. Bleacher Report has him going to the Cleveland Cavaliers at No. 49 while Tankathon.com has him going to the Utah Jazz at No. 53. Bleacher Report compares Nembhard to Tre Jones, noting that he led the nation in assists but has “athletic and scoring limitations.”

Goldin is a big-bodied center who stands 7 feet tall and weighs 253 pounds. He spent one season at Texas Tech and three seasons at Florida Atlantic before transferring to Michigan for his final season. He averaged 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.4 blocks as a senior, shooting 60.7% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range.

Tankathon.com has Goldin going to the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 51. Yahoo Sports has him going to the Houston Rockets at No. 59.

Jones is a 6-3, 183-pound shooting guard who spent two years at Buffalo and two at Iowa State. He is coming off a breakout senior season in which he averaged 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 37.4% from 3-point range on 6.9 attempts per game.
