**Liverpool have struck a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.**
Wirtz will arrive at Anfield in a deal worth an initial £100 million with future add-ons of £16M potentially seeing the fee set a new British transfer record.
The Germany international previously drew interest from several elite European clubs including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
But Arne Slot’s side ran unopposed for Wirtz, who will become the second high-profile addition to their squad in what promises to be a busy summer.
He will reunite with his former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who sealed a £29.5M switch to the Premier League champions at the end of May.
The Reds’ outlay on Wirtz sees him overtake Darwin Nunez as their new record signing, eclipsing the £85M package agreed for the forward in 2022.
Progress on a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, meanwhile, remains ongoing with the player expected to command a £45M price tag.
